Dr. Ahmad Zarour, MD, FRCSI, FACS, is a renowned experienced Senior Consultant surgeon at Hamad Medical Corporation. He holds significant positions as the Corporate Head of Acute Care Surgery and Executive Director for Corporate Surgical Services.
Dr. Zarour completed his residency in General Surgery in Jordan in 2000 and has been board certified in General Surgery since then. He further expanded his knowledge and skills by earning a Diploma in Laparoscopy from Strasbourg University Hospital in France in 2004. Additionally, he completed a comprehensive Trauma/Critical Care/ACS Fellowship at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, in 2010.
Recognized for his expertise and contributions to the field, Dr. Zarour is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (2000) and the American College of Surgeons (2008). His clinical interests include:
- General and Laparoscopic Surgery.
- Surgical Gastroenterology.
- Trauma/Acute Care Surgery.
- Redo Surgery.
- Abdominal Wall Reconstruction (AWR) surgery.
Driven by a passion for research, Dr. Zarour focuses on various aspects of surgery, including hemostasis, bowel anastomosis, biliary emergencies, GI emergencies, and laparoscopy in emergency settings. He has published over 80 research papers and authored the book "Essentials of Bowel Anastomosis" in 2013. Dr. Zarour actively contributes to the scientific community by reviewing articles for multiple journals and evaluating research proposals at HMC.
Dr. Zarour's leadership capabilities have positively impacted clinical activities at HMC. He has participated in numerous international surgical courses and has been recognized with several awards for his significant contributions to improving patient safety and outcomes.
