Dr. Ahmed is an academic forensic psychiatrist with special interest in Addiction Psychiatry, Health Law, and Psychotherapy. He a Clinical Investigator at the Institute of Mental Health Research and clinical research program dedicated to the study of Dysfunctional Anger and Personality Psychopathy in forensic patient population. He is the Professor and Chair of Psychiatry, College of Medicine University of Saskatchewan, and Provincial Head of Psychiatry. He remains of the faculty of the University of Ottawa and Queen's University. He is a co-director of the Centre for Rational and Cognitive Therapies.
Dr. Ahmed has published extensively in his areas of special interest, and he testified on numerous occasions as an expert witness on mental disorders and law at various levels of court system, Consent and Capacity and Criminal Code Review Boards across Canada. He was a member of the Ontario Review until he assumed his current position as University of Saskatchewan. He currently sits on the Nunavut and Saskatchewan Review.
