
Ms. Gulfama Abidullah Muhammad
Ms. Gulfama is a Clinical Nurse Specialist working closely with the Breast Medical Oncology Team at National Center for Care and Research. She has been working in HMC for more than 14 years.
She was one of the first group of nurses who graduated from the University of Calgary with a bachelor’s degree (with distinction) in 2010. After working for three years in HMC, Ms. Gulfama continued her Education and earned a master’s degree in 2015 from the University of Calgary.
Her previous work experience includes CNS in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, staff nurse in Pediatrics Emergency, and Charge Nurse and Patient Educator in Dermatology and Venerology Clinic.
Ms. Gulfama works closely with the Breast Medical Oncology Team and provides direct, specialized, and comprehensive care to breast cancer patients. She is an active core member of the breast MDT.
She contributes to developing the long-term plan in collaboration with the patient/family and the health care team and documents as part of an interdisciplinary care plan.
Ms. Gulfama also participates actively in Education and research activities and has led the Education sub-group of the Professional Practice Group (PPG) of CNSs from 2019-2021, conducting many educational sessions.
She also published her research paper, “Depression Screening in cancer patients: A narrative review,” in the Journal of Nursing Education and Practice in June 2018. She was actively involved in teaching chemotherapy classes for newly diagnosed cancer patients that won the HMC’s stars of excellence award in 2018.
