Paediatric Emergency Sonography Course
30 October, 2018
Background
Resuscitation in the pediatric age group is always challenging. The acute care clinician has incorporated technology to aid in diagnosing, monitoring and even treating the sick child. Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) has evolved as the most significant technological evolution that has aided in resuscitation and address the issue of patient safety.
The International Council of Critical Emergency Sonography have been torch bearers of the global mission to spread POCUS education to the acute care clinician and add this much-needed skill set to his armamentarium. The challenges posed by acute illnesses in the pediatric age group could be better tackled with POCUS and we have been advocates for the use of POCUS in pediatric resuscitation for close to a decade. The Pediatric Emergency Sonography Course has been a regular feature of the national emergency pediatric board review course and emergency pediatric injuries and illnesses congress. It has also been well received internationally and is a great asset for any clinician involved with treating children of any age group.
