Prof. Louay Mahmoud Samir El Sharkawy

Prof. Louay Mahmoud Samir El Sharkawy is a prominent figure in Otolaryngology and is currently a Professor at Cairo University's Faculty of Medicine. With a career spanning over three decades, his expertise lies in head and neck surgery, particularly laryngology and reconstructive surgeries of the larynx.

Beginning as an intern at the Hospitals of Cairo University in 1988, Prof. El Sharkawy has held various significant positions, including Clinical Demonstrator, Assistant Lecturer, and Lecturer of Otolaryngology. His international exposure includes a Clinical Fellowship at the University of Bordeaux II, France, and a visiting professorship at Hospital Européen Georges Pompidou, Université Paris V, Paris, France.

Having earned his Medical School Certificate (MB, BCh) from Cairo University, Prof. El Sharkawy continued his academic journey with a Master of Otolaryngology (MSc) in 1991 and a Doctorate of Otolaryngology (MD) in 1995. Throughout his career, he has made significant contributions through theses and publications, covering topics such as voice restoration, hearing impairment rehabilitation, and advanced surgical techniques.

Prof. El Sharkawy is a member of various prestigious organizations, including the European Group for Functional Laryngeal Surgery (EGFL) and the French Society of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. His commitment to international collaboration is evident through active participation in numerous conferences and courses.
