Michael G. Stewart, MD, M.P.H. is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College and Otolaryngologist-in-Chief at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He also serves as Senior Associate Dean for International Affairs and Affiliations of the Medical College. In the past, Dr. Stewart has served as Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs from 2010-2017 and 2020-2021 and also as Vice Dean of the Medical College. He is also the founder and Medical Director of the Center for the Performing Artist at Weill Cornell/New York-Presbyterian Hospital. 

He received a B.E. degree summa cum laude from Vanderbilt University and an M.D. from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He completed residency training at Baylor College of Medicine in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. He received his M.P.H. degree from the University of Texas School of Public Health, Houston. 

He is the author of 2 textbooks, more than 30 book chapters, and 130 peer-reviewed publications. He is the former Editor-in-Chief of The Laryngoscope journal, and he also served as Associate Editor and on the Editorial Boards of several other journals. He is a former director and the past president of the American Board of Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery. He is also a past president of the Association of Academic Departments of Oto-HNS and the Society of University Otolaryngologists.

Prof. Stewart was an elected member of the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery (AAOHNS) from 2011-15 and of the American Rhinologic Society from 2011-16, and he also served on the Council of the Triological Society from 2010-19. He was an appointed member of the Eye Care and Ear Nose and Throat Conditions subcommittee of the National Quality Forum from 2015-18, and he was a member of the ACGME Residency Review Committee for Oto-HNS from 2016-22. He is serving his second term as the Executive Vice President of the American Rhinologic Society. 

Prof. Stewart's research interest is in outcomes and quality-of-life research, and he has received research funding from the N.I.H. and AHRQ, among others. He has developed and validated patient-based outcome measures, including the Nasal Obstruction Symptom Evaluation (NOSE) index, translated into 17 languages, and cited more than 700 times. Dr. Stewart has received many awards and honors, including two Distinguished Service Awards from the AAO-HNS and Presidential and Vice-Presidential Citations from four national societies. 

He has won several teaching awards at Baylor College of Medicine and Weill Cornell Medicine. He has been a visiting professor at more than 40 institutions and has given more than 500 invited lectures nationally and internationally.
