Dr. Anand Kartha
Dr. Anand Kartha is the Head of Hospital Medicine and a Senior Consultant in General Medicine at Hamad General Hospital, Hamad Medical Corporation, in Doha, Qatar. He is an academic hospitalist with a focus on healthcare quality and safety for over a decade.
He completed his residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center - Mercy and after a Chief Residency, completed a General Internal Medicine Fellowship and Masters in Health Services Research at Boston University. The American Board of Internal Medicine certifies him in Internal Medicine with Focused Practice in Hospital Medicine.
Prior to recently joining Hamad Medical Corporation, he was Associate Chief for Quality and Performance at VA Boston Healthcare System and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Boston University and Lecturer at Harvard Medical School. He has received numerous clinical and teaching awards and has developed curriculum in healthcare quality that was recognized as a “Best Practice” by The Joint Commission.
He has been funded to conduct research and has various publications in inpatient healthcare quality and patient safety. He is a former Assistant Editor of the Journal of Hospital Medicine. He has received awards for his leadership in developing many programs to improve healthcare quality at VA Boston. He has been an active contributor to the growth of hospitalist medicine and has successfully mentored many trainees and faculty in clinical and allied healthcare fields.
