Dr. Nadir Kharma

 

Dr. Kharma earned both his bachelor’s degree in biology and Doctor of Medicine degree at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon in 2001. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, USA. He also completed two fellowships in critical care medicine and Pulmonology at the University of Manitoba, Canada. Subsequent to that, he completed a fellowship in sleep medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, USA.

Dr. Kharma previously worked as an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Manitoba, Canada. He was the director of long term ventilation service and a consultant in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the Health Services Centre and Saint Boniface General Hospital in Winnipeg, Canada.

He also worked as a consultant in Pulmonology, Critical Care and sleep medicine at Mayo clinic health system in the United States.

In June 2017, he joined the division of MICU at HGH as a senior consultant.

He is board-certified in internal medicine, pulmonary, critical care and Sleep medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, Society of Critical Care Medicine and American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

His professional interests include chronic respiratory failure, weaning from mechanical ventilation, noninvasive ventilation and respiratory care for neuromuscular diseases. Dr. Kharma is also active in teaching and supervising residents and fellows.
