Dr. Susu M Zughaier, Associate Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at College of Medicine, Qatar University

Dr. Susu Zughaier is an Associate Professor of Microbiology and Immunology and the Chair of the Infectious Diseases Research Network at Qatar University College of Medicine. She was trained as a clinical microbiologist at University College London and completed her MSc and PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from Cardiff University, UK. 

She completed her postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA and was Assistant Professor of Microbiology and Immunology, Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, USA. Her research interests are focused on antimicrobial resistance, host-pathogen interactions, nanovaccine development, nanotechnology for rapid detection of bacterial infections and artificial intelligence for medical applications. 

Her translational research is focused on vitamin D immune modulatory effects and related translational studies. Dr. Zughaier has published more than 120 scientific research papers with H-index 39 and has been awarded four patents for her discoveries. She has been listed among the top two percent of highly cited authors with impact in their field in 2020 and 2024. She is an active member of various international societies and serves as associate editor, an editorial board member and an ad-hoc reviewer for multiple international journals. ​​​
