Professor Takahiro Oto
Prof. Takahiro Oto is an internationally renowned expert in lung transplantation. He is the Director of the Lung Transplant Program at Hamad Medical Corporation and a Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine- Qatar.
He had performed the first lung transplant in Qatar, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam. He is an internationally renowned expert in brain-dead lung transplantation, living donor lung transplantation, and adult and pediatric lung transplantation.
The Oto Procedure, a lung cancer surgery using various lung transplant techniques, is named after him.
