Dr. Ibrahim Fawzy

Dr. Ibrahim Fawzy graduated from the National Medical University and completed his residency and fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital–Weill Cornell Medical College.

He is the founder of Qatar’s National Severe Respiratory Failure–ECMO Program and the National eCPR Program, pioneering life-saving initiatives across the country. A recognized world expert in critical care and ECMO, Dr. Fawzy is the former President of the South West Asia and Africa Chapter of the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) and actively contributes to advancing the field globally.

Dr. Fawzy serves as Associate Professor of Medicine and Genetic Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College and Clinical Professor at Qatar University. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles on critical care and ECMO and participates in international guideline panels, including those shaping global recommendations for respiratory ECMO.

Over his distinguished career, Dr. Fawzy has received multiple awards, including the Alpha Omega Alpha Award (New York) and the Youngest Clinician of the Year Award from Cleveland Clinic."
