Dr. Salwa M. Abuyaqoub serves in multiple leadership capacities at the Women’s Wellness and Research Center (WWRC) under Hamad Medical Corporation in Qatar. She is the Chair of Obstetrics and a Senior Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as the Program Director of the Ob/Gyn Residency Training Program and Vice Chair for Education and Training. She also holds a faculty appointment as Assistant Professor at Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar and Qatar University School of Medicine.
With a strong passion for medical education, Dr. Salwa has been actively involved in academic training since 2009, with a particular focus on residency development. She has played a key role in designing and implementing several specialized training courses such as the Obstetric Anal Sphincter Injuries Workshop (OASIS), Basic Surgical Skills and Episiotomy course in Ob/Gyn, and TeamSTEPPS for improved interdisciplinary communication during emergencies.
Dr. Salwa is recognized for establishing the first OSCE training program in the Middle East tailored for Arab Board and MRCOG candidates, an initiative she has continued annually since 2014. She is also a certified instructor at the Hamad International Training Center for ALSO, BLSO, and TeamSTEPPS programs.
Her contributions to the field extend beyond clinical education, including peer-reviewed publications, and regular presentations at national and international conferences. She was Chair of the ‘Qatar International Conference in Obstetrics & Gynecology (QICOG) 2024’.
Dr. Salwa is actively involved in numerous prestigious national and international committees, including serving as Chair of the Arab Board Examination Committee in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Member of Executive Committee of the Qatar Board of Medical Specialization and International Review Committee member of ACGME-I.
