Dr. Hanadi Al Hamad has worked in HMC for many years and has extensive experience in various roles. She is currently the Chair of the Geriatrics and Long Term Care Department as well as the Medical Director overseeing the clinical operations of Rumailah Hospital and the Qatar Rehabilitation Institute.
Dr. Al Hamad completed her M.Sc. degree in Healthcare Management from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and was awarded a diploma in Senior Clinical Leaders Program from Harvard University. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (ACP).
Dr. Al Hamad is the representative for the State of Qatar for WHO Elderly People Care, the Global Dementia Observatory (GDO) Focal Point, and an Executive member of European Academy of Medicine of Ageing. In recognition of her vast experience and competences in the field of Geriatric Care, Dr. Hanadi was appointed as the National Health Strategy Lead for Healthy Ageing for the implementation of National Health Strategy 2018-2022, which aims to deliver the ambitious 19 National Health Targets. She is also an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine in Weill Cornell Medical College-Qatar.
As a senior Qatari physician, Dr. Al Hamad has proven steadfast in her dedication to providing quality care for patients, especially older patients in need of more support. She is also committed to promoting research activities and educational programs. In her role as the Chairperson of the Geriatrics Department, she has established new and innovative services such as the Memory Clinic, Falls Clinic and Acute Care Unit in HMC. She is also a key member in various HMC and MOPH committees.
