Dr. Muayad Kasim Khalid, Senior Consultant Physician, and Assistant Chairman of the Department of Medicine, HMC and Head of Medicine Department at Hazm Mbaireek General Hospital. He is also an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College-Qatar. 

He obtained his primary medical degree from Mosul College of Medicine in Iraq in 1979. He joined the residency program in Internal Medicine, in 1985, and got his Arab Board in 1990. He has achieved the MRCP (UK) from Glasgow 1998. He is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians in 2004 and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh) in 2005. 

He joined HGH in June 1996 and performed various clinical interventions to properly assess patient-care related activities. Whilst working as a Senior Consultant in HGH Emergency Department, he was involved in the major changes which occurred in the emergency department’s performance towards becoming a center for the ACGME-I accredited Arab Board in Emergency Medicine. 

In January 2012, he was appointed to be the Acting Chairman of Emergency Department at HMC.

In 2011, he was tasked for the setting up of state-of-the-art Emergency Department, at the newly built Al Wakra hospital, which, became the second busiest emergency service in Qatar. 

He was involved in organizing many of the successful international Emergency Medicine and Trauma conferences in Qatar, as a member of organizing, scientific, and advisory committees, as well as a founding member of the first journal of Emergency Medicine in the Middle East, as well as being the Senior Editor for JEMTAC (Journal of Emergency Medicine, Trauma and Acute Care),and currently serving as an Editorial Board Member.

 He was also a member of Editorship Committee and elected as a Vice President-at-large of the Eastern Mediterranean Association of Medical Editors (EMAME) in 2006-2008, and presently the Chairman of EMAME Education and Training Committee.
