Dr. Peter joined Hamad Medical Corporation in March 2017 as a senior consultant and head of virology developing a strong clinical interface with colleagues in the hospital and community sectors in Qatar and MOPH. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he has provided expert advice to the National Health Strategic Command Group and SWICC. He is also qualified in medicine and trained in microbiology & virology in Belfast and Atlanta. Dr. Peter admitted Fellow of the College of Pathologists (London) and completed a Doctoral Thesis at Queens University Belfast before being employed as a consultant virologist in the Regional Virology Laboratory Belfast. He was the past president of the European Society for Clinical Virology and currently a Board Editor for the Journal of Medical Microbiology. He held an honorary post of Professor of Microbiology with the Wellcome-Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine, Queen’s University Belfast and an Adjunct Professorship in the Biomedical Research Center of Qatar University.
