Prof. Thomas Czech, M.D., IFAANS
Prof. Thomas Czech received his MD in 1981 from the University of Vienna. He completed his residency at the Department of Neurosurgery of the University Hospital Vienna under the guidance of Prof. Koos and Prof. Perneczky. From 1991, he was director for the pediatric neurosurgery program. In 1992, he had his fellowship at Cleveland Clinic with Prof. Youssef Comair. He was also the Director of the newly established adult and pediatric epilepsy surgery program at the Dept. of Neurosurgery, Vienna University, a position held from 1993 -2020. From 2006 – 2018, he was vice-chairman, 2018-2019 acting chairman of the department.  His research interests focus on pediatric brain tumors, epilepsy surgery techniques, outcomes, and molecular changes in epileptogenic brain. Dr. Czech has been PI and Co-PI for grant-funded translational and clinical research projects on pediatric brain tumors and human epilepsy and authored and co-authored >200 publications in peer-reviewed journals.
