​​​Dr. Suad Al Kharusi, MBChB, MRCPI, FRCPI, FRCP (Edin), ESMOc is the Head of the National Oncology Center in Oman, a position she has held since December 2018. Prior to this, she served as Head of the Adult Oncology Section at the Royal Hospital from 2015 to 2018 and has been a Senior Consultant Medical Oncologist since 2007. 

She also chairs the Tumor Board at the Royal Hospital, contributing to multidisciplinary cancer care in the country.

Dr. Al Kharusi obtained her MBChB from the University of Dundee in 1992 after completing the Scottish Higher Certificate in 1987. She became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (MRCPI) in 1999, later earning her Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (FRCPI) in 2013, and Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (FRCP Edin) in 2017. 

She also achieved certification from the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMOc) in 2013, with recertification in 2018. Between 1999 and 2001, she trained in medical oncology at the Bristol Oncology Center in the United Kingdom.

With over two decades of experience, Dr. Al Kharusi has been at the forefront of cancer care in Oman, particularly in breast cancer management. She leads the Breast Cancer Clinic and combined clinics for newly diagnosed cases, and has played a key role in quality improvement, guideline development, and the Drugs and Therapeutics Committee.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Al Kharusi is actively engaged in education and research. She teaches undergraduate medical students, supervises postgraduate trainees, and regularly contributes to seminars and conferences both nationally and internationally, often as a speaker in breast cancer meetings.

 Dr. Al Kharusi’s scholarly contributions include publications in international and local journals, and she serves as a regular reviewer for the Oman Medical Journal (OMJ) and Sultan Qaboos University Hospital (SQUH) journals.
