Head of Oncology and Lymphedema Physiotherapy Department, NCCCR /QRI

Mohamed Shafi is the Head of Oncology and Lymphedema Physiotherapy Department, NCCCR with more than 20 years of experience in cancer rehabilitation and the Co-Chair of Lymphedema Education & Research Network (LE & RN), Qatar Chapter.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Calicut University in Kerala, India in 2000 and he specialized in Level 4 Cancer Rehabilitation by Wright Foundation from United Kingdom.

He received his initial Lymphedema Therapist certification from Colorado, United States of America by Klose Training Centre in 2012 followed by the advanced lymphedema and Head and Neck Lymphedema certificate from Hinterzarten, Germany.

He is also a Certified Cancer Exercise trainer from the American College of Sports Medicine.

He served as a key person in establishing the First Lymphedema Clinic within Hamad Medical Corporation, in the state of Qatar and a core member of Qatar National Breast Tumor Board, Ministry of Public health, as Lymphedema Specialist and an author in developing Clinical Practice Guidelines for Lymphedema Management, Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar

In addition, he has co-authored a research paper during the pandemic titled "Physiotherapy management response for patients with Lymphedema amid covid 19 - describing how he and his team redesigned the lymphedema management during this testing time. He is also an invited speaker in many conferences regional and International.
