With over 25 years of dedicated experience in general and colorectal surgery, Dr. Ahmad Uraiqat stands as a leading figure in his field, currently serving as the Chief of the Colorectal Unit at King Hussein Medical Center. A Brigadier General in the Royal Medical Services of the Jordan Armed Forces, Dr. Uraiqat has been instrumental in establishing a comprehensive colorectal training program since 2008, nurturing the next generation of surgeons.
Dr. Uraiqat's expertise spans a wide array of complex surgical procedures, with a particular focus on minimally invasive techniques for colorectal malignancies, pelvic exenteration and the management of various anal diseases, including fistulas, hemorrhoids and fissures. His proficiency also extends to the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and incisional hernias, making him a trusted resource for patients facing challenging health issues.
Dr. Uraiqat holds multiple fellowships, including those from the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland and England, as well as the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Society of Colorectal Surgeons and completed a fellowship in colorectal surgery at St. Mark's Hospital in Harrow, UK.
Dr. Uraiqat's commitment to medical education is evident through his postgraduate certificate in Medical Education, reflecting his passion for teaching and mentoring future surgeons. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Uraiqat serves as a Jordan Board examiner in General and Colorectal Surgery and Surgical Oncology at the King Hussein Cancer Center. He is also a dedicated educator, directing and training in various courses, including Basic Surgical Skills (BSS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
