Prof. Mehmet Ayhan Kuzu

​A distinguished leader in the field of colorectal surgery, Prof. Kuzu has served two terms as President of the Turkish Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery and holds memberships in numerous national and international surgical societies. During his presidency, Prof. Kuzu led the creation of a comprehensive almanac detailing the history of colorectal surgery in Türkiye.

He is also the author of the historical monograph “Those Who Give Hands to the Art of Surgery,” which chronicles the evolution of the Department of General Surgery at Ankara University from 1945 to 2022.

With a prolific academic record, Prof. Kuzu has published 165 scientific articles, including 97 in international journals. His research on “Intestinal Ischemia and Reperfusion Affect Vasomotor Functions in the Pulmonary Vascular System” earned him the Eczacıbaşı Scientific Research and Medicine Encouragement Award in 2000. In 2001, he received international fellowships from both the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) and the American College of Surgeons (ACS). He was also awarded the Health Sciences Science Award by Ankara University in 2003.

Prof. Kuzu’s work has been recognized internationally with several accolades, including:
