Purpose & Objectives: The program will enable participants, and their facility leads as sponsors to work closely assessing and enabling their facility on Safe Reliable, and Effective Care. Working Collaboratively for the High-Performing Organization.
- Introduction and application to the High-Performing Organizations - Starting the HPO Journey into practice.
- Introduction of the High-Performing Organization Framework
- Identify the roles of leaders, and their competencies and discuss the need for personal accountability.
- Discuss the need for personal accountability and describe the behaviors that leaders must exhibit and demand.
- Apply the actions and behaviors that will develop the desired culture.
- Describe psychological safety and explain situations in which leaders develop psych safety.
- Describe behaviors that contribute to the development of psychological safety and the learning system in terms of HPO.
- Define transparency and discuss why transparency is necessary for a learning organization to be successful.
- Explain the steps to changes needed to develop a data-driven culture.
- Describe the need for measures to determine the current state and drive improvement and Identify ways in which to present data to engage staff.
- Describe how you will use the framework to support continuous improvement and describe the required tools and how they are integrated into HP healthcare.
- Define what we mean by human factors, Identify Human Factor (HF) violations in your area of responsibility, and explain how you will help others understand human factors.
- Describe how to build reliable processes and steps that lead to higher reliability of processes.
- Examine the self-assessment, review your plan, and Share updates with participants.
- Discuss and evaluate Professional Conduct and Spread and Sustainability - Recognize the connection between professionalism, safety culture, and well-being.
- Identify and overcome institutional barriers to professionalism accountability.
- Consider programmatic initiatives to support professionalism and discuss activities needed to sustain cultural and operational improvements.
- Discuss accountability for ensuring sustainability and describe the measurement strategy for sustainability.
- Identify leaders whose influence will support your efforts to improve patient safety in your area of responsibility and describe the characteristics needed for a persuasive request for support.
- Describe the contribution of staff to patient safety and HPO with steps in the workplace safety journey and identify which steps you will test in your organization/area of responsibility.
- Describe how the framework elements, when reliably applied, contribute to an enabling environment.
Program Format and Timeline: The High-Performing Organization program unfolds over an eight-month duration for each cohort, accommodating a maximum of 30 participants to uphold the "All Teach, All Learn" approach. Overall 3 In-person workshops and 10 coaching webinars during its two-action period.
Participants are tasked with developing an “Action Plan” throughout the program, coupled with pre- and post-self-assessment measures across the learning domain areas:
A. Learning System, B. Leadership Learning, C. Patient Partnership, and D. Culture learning. These plans will enable participants to make positive change and improvement in their area of responsibility and enhance the overall Qatar healthcare system.
