Purpose & Objectives:

The Improvement Specialist Program is designed to expand the capacity for improvement by developing healthcare leaders and quality professionals as Improvement Specialists who are capable of leading results-based improvement initiatives.

Improvement Specialists are expected to advise, develop and lead improvement initiatives in their facilities and organizations as aligned to strategic priorities.

Format:

The Improvement Specialist Program is spread over a period of nine months. The program format is as shown in the following infographics:


Outline: The introduction of the Improvement Specialist Program marked a significant step in cultivating specialized skills in healthcare improvement among professionals. The faculty are from IHI, HHQI and HMC, who are IHI Improvement Advisor graduates. Cohort 1 launched on August 2023. Each cohort will run for about 10 to 12 months and will be limited to 30 participants to ensure application and practice of the “All Teach, All Learn” concept.

The Improvement Specialist Program is accredited with 44.75 CPD points. Currently, there are 27 participants from across HMC and our healthcare partners such as PHCC and QRC working on different improvement initiatives. The graduation of Cohort 1 is scheduled on May 2024.
