
Dr. Mohammed Yousuf Karim, Senior Immunology Consultant, Sidra Medicine
Dr. Mohammed Yousuf Karim is the Division Chief of Hematology, Immunology and Transfusion at Sidra Medicine. He is also the Clinical Professor in Immunopathology at Qatar University.
Dr. Karim studied at Cambridge University and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, qualifying in 1993 with Distinctions in Medicine and Pathology. He was Consultant Immunologist at Surrey Pathology Services and Clinical Lead in Immunology at Guy's & St Thomas' Hospitals, London.
He worked for 25 years in the UK National Health Service, before establishing the Diagnostic Immunology Laboratory at Sidra Medicine in 2018. He has authored more than 90 publications and chapters and has received grant awards totaling USD3.7 million.
He was Chair of the Clinical Immunology Committee of the British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology between 2014 to 2017, and is currently a Country Advisor for the Royal College of Pathologists for Qatar.
He is leading the international “BASICS” project for hypogammaglobulinemia secondary to B-cell therapies in autoimmune diseases. He is also the co-lead of the Sidra Immune Dysregulation Clinical Research Program.
