Dr. Abdel-Naser Elzouki, is a Senior Consultant of Internal Medicine. He is Chief of General Internal Medicine and the Fellowship Program Director of General Internal Medicine at Hamad General Hospital, Hamad Medical Corporation. He holds the position of Professor of Internal Medicine at Al-Arab Medical University and Associate Professor of Medicine, Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar. Dr. Elzouki has more than 30 years of professional experience and his areas of expertise and clinical interests include internal medicine, hepatology and gastroenterology, diabetes and metabolic diseases. In addition to holding a post-graduate Diploma in Medical Education from the UK, he has extensive experience in medical education and teaching post-graduate residents and fellows as well as under-graduate medical students.
Dr. Elzouki has received numerous awards and honours and is an examiner for the MRCP-PACES exam of the UK and an official Arab Board examiner for the internal medicine speciality. Dr. Elzouki has published more than 85 articles in peer reviewed medical journals and wrote five book chapters. He is the Editor-in-Chief of LJID and an editorial board member and reviewer of numerous international medical journals. In addition to being a member of many regional and international professional associations and societies, Dr. Elzouki is the Secretary General of the Mediterranean Association for Study of Liver Disease (MASL), Vice-President of the Mediterranean Task Force for Cancer Control (MTCC) and Vice-President of the Libyan Society of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He has been invited to speak at numerous regional and international conferences and he is the Director of a series of Clinical Review Courses for Internal Medicine Board Exams held regularly in Doha, Tripoli, Benghazi and Muscat. He is also Co-founder and Instructor of structured courses and workshops on medical professionalism and communication skills conducted for residents, fellows and consultants at Hamad Medical Corporation.
