Dr. Shatha Al Hilli

Dr. Shatha Al Hilli is a Senior Consultant with the Department of Clinical Imaging at Hamad General Hospital. She is also Head of the Trauma and Emergency Radiology section and Chairperson of the Radiology Department Accreditation and Quality Improvement Committee at Hamad Medical Corporation; posts she has held since 2006. She is the Director of the Emergency Radiology Fellowship program and Core Faculty of the Radiology Residency Training program.
Dr. Al Hilli completed her Bachelor of Medicine (MBChB) from the University of Mosul, Iraq. She obtained her Diploma from the Royal College of Radiologists (DMRD) and completed her Fellowship at the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR), London, UK. Dr. Al Hilli is the first female radiologist to have obtained this degree in Iraq and the Arab world. She has more than 35 years of professional experience in diagnostic imaging in various hospitals in Iraq, the United Kingdom and Qatar. Her interests are in the fields of trauma and emergency radiology, breast imaging, body imaging and accreditation and quality improvement.
As the Chairperson of the Department of Accreditation and the Quality Improvement Committee, Dr. Al Hilli has various roles and responsibilities, including leading, coordinating and supervising the implementation of regulations for JCI accreditation in radiology sections across Hamad Medical Corporation. She is also responsible for writing and revising radiology and safety policies and clinical guidelines, establishing and regularly monitoring and revising radiology quality indicators, continuous staff education (both clinical and technical) in quality related issues and continuous auditing projects and implementation of the required changes to ensure the provision of the highest quality radiology service in compliance with JCI standards and international benchmarks.
Dr. Al Hilli has been an active participant and organizer of numerous scientific radiology conferences and workshops, including acting as Head and Co-head of the Organization Committees for the Qatar Radiology Symposia QRS1 (2009), QRS2 (2010), QRS3 (2011) and QRS4 (2012) and assisting with the organization of the radiology tracks of the 2nd Qatar Health Conference, 2nd Joint Meeting of the Asian Musculoskeletal Society and Arabian Gulf Society of Skeletal Radiology (2013) and the 7th Arab Radiology Congress, which is the official conference of the Pan Arab Associations of Radiological Societies (PAARS) April 2014.
