Dr. Hiba Abdel Aziz joined the Trauma Surgery Service at Hamad General Hospital in 2015 as a Senior Consultant. She received her medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Dr. Abdel Aziz has trained in Europe and the United States. Her General Surgery Residency and Fellowship in Trauma/Critical Care was completed at the Institutes of Case Western Reserve University, University Hospitals of Cleveland and Metro Health Medical Center, Ohio.
After completing her training in surgery and critical care she joined the trauma/critical care/acute care surgery staff at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, University Hospitals of Cleveland and St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Ohio. Dr. Abdel Aziz was an Assistant Professor at Northeast Ohio Medical University. She has mentored residents and medical students in clinical research programs which resulted in national conferences presentations and publications. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery with added qualifications in Surgical Critical Care. Her areas of expertise, in addition to general surgery, trauma and critical care, include laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery and endoscopy. Dr. Abdel Aziz is the Chair of the Trauma Guidelines Committee, which is working towards standardizing the trauma practice according to the best evidence.
