Dr. Ruben Peralta is an American Board of Surgery and American Board of Surgical Critical Care certified surgeon and currently serves as the Senior Consultant and Director of the Trauma and Critical Care Fellowship Program, Vice-Chair of Quality Patient Safety Program and Associate Director of the Trauma ICU at Hamad General Hospital in Doha, Qatar.
Dr. Peralta’s contributions to the science and practice of medicine in the Middle East Region, and to the quality of care measured by the improved outcome for severely injured patients in the Gulf Region, have been demonstrated by establishing the Trauma Service and implementing the Massive Transfusion Protocol in Doha, Qatar. One of the most vivid examples of his professional career’s legacy is the establishment and enhancement of post-graduate medical education for Trauma, Emergency and Critical Care in the Middle East Region.
Dr. Peralta has received many awards, including the prestigious Harvard-affiliated hospitals Partner in Excellence award for outstanding community service in Boston, USA, the Arab Heath Awards for his outstanding leadership roles in Doha, Qatar and multiple Stars of Excellence awards and in 2014 the Managing Director’s award. Dr. Peralta has been recognized by induction into the Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons. In 2014 he was awarded the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland Medical Validation with Distinction award, the most prestigious award received by any consultant physician and senior physician practicing at Hamad Medical Corporation in the State of Qatar.
