Dr. Merlin Thomas

Dr Merlin Thomas is a Consultant Pulmonologist at Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar, and Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine - Qatar.
She is the clinical lead for the Adult Bronchiectasis service in HMC and also plays a vital role in the adult cystic fibrosis service. She was instrumental in establishing the Qatar Lung transplant program and was a key member of the lung transplant service at HMC.
She graduated from Amrita University, India, with a residency in Internal medicine and a pulmonary fellowship at HMC.
She is an active faculty of the HMC Internal Medicine Residency Program and Pulmonary Fellowship Program.
Her dedication to education is reflected in her role as CPD officer for the Chest Department, HMC, and the Chair of the Internal Medicine Grand Rounds at HMC.
Her areas of expertise and research interests include pharmacology and management of airway diseases. She has several peer-reviewed research publications and is a HMC Clinical Trial Unit Working Group and Qatar University Institutional Biosafety Committee board member.
She’s a faculty member of Hamad Health Care Quality Institute and is involved in CCITP and Medicine Quality Improvement Training Programs. Her significant involvement in both domains has earned her numerous accolades at HMC for her outstanding research and quality projects.
