Dr. Zuhair Al-Karrat
Dr. Zuhair Al-Karrat is a Syrian medical doctor and general surgeon with over ten years of experience in clinical practice, hospital leadership, and health system management in crisis settings. He holds a Master’s degree in General Surgery and has led major health institutions, including serving as Director General of Idlib Health Directorate and currently Director of Health Planning and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Health. Before 2025, he worked extensively in field and emergency hospitals, managing trauma care, leading surgical teams in humanitarian contexts, supporting mobile surgical units, and strengthening lifesaving surgical services in high-risk environments. His expertise includes trauma and emergency surgery, developing clinical protocols, improving patient safety, and enhancing health service delivery in complex humanitarian settings.
