Mr. Alan Dobson
Assistant Executive Director of Emergency Nurse Education, Hamad Medical Corporation
Mr. Alan Dobson, RN, ENB 199, BA(Hons), MA(Ed), is the Assistant Executive Director of Emergency Nurse Education at Hamad Medical Corporation and Interim Assistant Executive Director of Nursing for Rumailah Hospital.
In 1981 Mr. Dobson completed his RN training and in 1986 completed emergency care specialist training. In 1992 he completed his post-graduate certificate in education at the University of Wales and in 1996 he completed his Masters in Education at the University of Southampton.
For 20 years, Mr. Dobson pursued a career in the Queen Alexandra’s Royal Naval Nursing Service, serving on board ships, medical establishments and naval hospitals around the world. His career then moved on to cover a broad range of clinical, educational, managerial and leadership roles across acute and emergency care services, including academic, operational and strategic positions in the UK.
In his current role Mr. Dobson is responsible for the educational provision that underpins the delivery of world leading, high quality evidence-based care to the Corporation’s 1,300 plus emergency nurses in Qatar.
He is also responsible for the delivery of safe and effective, high quality nursing care at Rumailah Hospital; a 400 bedded adult and pediatric facility with both acute specialist surgical, specialist rehabilitation, communicable diseases and long-term care services.
Mr. Dobson is currently a PhD Student at the University of Lancaster. He is married with three children and his family live on the South Downs, near Winchester, UK. Mr. Dobson is a keen sportsman, he enjoys trying to keep fit and, when time permits, is an enthusiastic amateur sailor.
