Ms. Asmaa Al-Atey is the Director of Nursing of Trauma services, Hamad General Hospital. She holds a master’s degree in Executive MBA from HEC of Paris. She is accountable for nursing practice across all of Trauma Services in Hamad General hospital with 314 bed and more than 750 registered nurses onboard.
Ms. Asmaa earned her bachelor’s degree of Science in Nursing from Qatar University and started her nursing career as a staff nurse in general surgery then worked her way up to the career ladder until she was promoted as Director of Nursing in 2015 for Trauma services in Hamad General Hospital, Qatar, then in April 2020 appointed for her latest role.
She is working with various media organizations and key government agencies to facilitate nationwide information dissemination in nursing profession, disease prevention and road safety. She has represented Qatari Nurses at the World Health Organization’s Young Nurses Event and currently she is appointed to lead the Nightingale Challenge in Qatar in competition with global nurses. Ms. Asmaa has also presented in numerous national and international conferences.
In 2019, Ms. Asmaa established a comprehensive continuous education program for the Trauma Nursing Department.
In 2020, during the height of the first wave of the COVID 19 pandemic in Qatar, her nursing leadership played a vital role in the successful management of the Trauma and Emergency Services in Hamad General Hospital which facilitated a seamless delivery of high quality nursing care amidst the challenges presented by the pandemic crisis.
