Jussara Brito
 
Jussara Brito, PhD, IBCLC, is a public health specialist and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant with over 30 years of experience in maternal-infant health and tropical disease management. She served as a consultant for the United Nations in Brazil on dengue from 2025 to 2026, where she contributed to evidence-based strategies for surveillance, prevention, and community health engagement.

Known for her calm and patient demeanor as well as her strong clinical leadership, she has effectively supported patients while leading multidisciplinary teams to provide safe and compassionate care.

For more than seven years at Hamad Medical Corporation–Al Wakra Hospital, Jussara has spearheaded two strategic initiatives within the Obstetrics & Gynecology Division: Perinatal Mental Health and the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI). Her work combines breastfeeding expertise, staff development, and system-level quality improvement to improve outcomes for mothers, babies, and families. Her professional interests encompass BFHI implementation, perinatal mental health, workplace wellbeing, and the application of public health in tropical settings.
