Rita Rastogi Kalyani
Rita Rastogi Kalyani, MD, MHS, FACP, is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in neurobiology from Harvard College. She completed her medical degree, residency, and endocrinology fellowship at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Kalyani attends on both the inpatient consultation service and has an outpatient diabetes practice. She also directs the Diabetes Management Service for Johns Hopkins’ Total Pancreatectomy Islet Auto Transplant Program. She is the Editor-in-Chief of the Johns Hopkins Diabetes POC-IT Guide and the Johns Hopkins Patient Guide to Diabetes website. An author of more than 100 peer-reviewed research publications, chapters, and monographs, she is funded by the National Institutes of Health for her ground-breaking research investigating body composition and physical functioning in people with diabetes as they age, particularly among diverse populations. Dr. Kalyani is a dedicated mentor and lectures extensively. She has served on the Editorial Board of the high-impact research journal, Diabetes Care. She was a member of the American College of Physicians Internal Medicine Scientific Program Committee (2018) and previously served on the ACP Quality Connect:Diabetes steering committee. Dr. Kalyani is actively involved in national education and diabetes awareness efforts. She has developed international programs for the delivery of diabetes care in the Caribbean, Middle East, and Asia.
