Dr Merlin Thomas is a Consultant Pulmonologist at Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar and Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine - Qatar. She clinical lead for Adult Bronchiectasis service in HMC and co-lead the Pulmonary Biologics service for Severe Asthma and COPD ; and the Adult Cystic

Fibrosis service at HMC. She was instrumental in establishing the Qatar Lung transplant program and a key member in the lung transplant service at HMC.

She graduated from Amrita University, India followed by residency in Internal medicine and pulmonary fellowship at HMC . She is an active faculty of the HMC Internal Medicine Residency Program and Pulmonary Fellowship Program. Her dedication to education is reflected in her role as CPD officer for Chest Department, HMC and the Chair of the Internal Medicine Grand Rounds, HMC.

Her areas of expertise and research interests include the pharmacology and management of airway diseases. She has several peer reviewed research publications and is a board member of HMC Clinical Trial Unit working group and Qatar University Institutional Biosafety Committee. Her significant involvement in both domains has earned her numerous accolades at HMC for her outstanding research and best teacher awards .
